Training

The Springfield Fire Department Training Division currently consists of the Director of Training, a Lieutenant, a Firefighter and a Principal Clerk Typist. The main responsibilities of the Training Division are to prepare, arrange for, coordinate, deliver, document and track training for the Springfield Fire Department. The Division concerns itself largely with training on matters of Fire Safety, Firefighter Recruit Training, Incident Management, Firefighting, and Emergency Medical Services at the First Responder Level, Hazardous Materials and disaster response. These subjects are handled with both classroom and practical evolutions.  In addition, the Division operates and manages the Norris J. Quinn Fire Training Center, a 7 acre site used by the Springfield Fire Department and other emergency agencies.
